W. Elorda’s Snapshots: National Aviary – 22nd April 2023.

W. Elorda’s Snapshots

Hello everyone!

One of my favourite things to do when I wander around a place like a Zoo or Aviary is take photos, though I am sure that you figured that from this being a photography blog.

As such, when I visit a place, and end up taking a lot of photographs, I like to share my favourites here on the blog! That’s where my Snapshots series comes in!

You might see destinations get repeated, though I try not to repeat the photos.

That being said, today I am going to share with you some of my favourite from my recent trip to the National Aviary in Pittsburgh, PA.

If you’d like to check them out for yourself, you can find their website here! This post is not sponsored.

Before I get into the photos themselves, I’ll briefly discuss the camera. As I was vlogging this trip as well, all of these photos were taken using my iPhone 12, and edited using the VCSO app.

With all of that out of the way, let’s get straight into the snapshots., shall we?

African Penguin “Tribby”

First up is this shot of an African Penguin called “Tribby” (I spied their name on their flipper after I took the photo.) This was taken in the outside area of the Penguin enclosure.

This little fellow was very cute, and came right up to the glass to check out my vlogging camera as I was taking footage.

Blue-Billed Curassow “Elizabeth”

This pretty lady is a Blue-Billed Curasson named “Elizabeth.”

She was very curious, and even pecked a woman’s phone out of her hand as she was trying to take a photo. She followed me through the room for a little bit, so I got a good up-close-and-personal view.

American Flamingo.

I did not catch the name of this American Flamingo, but they were walking back and forth trying to get the attention of the keepers. I’m guessing that it was close to feeding time – or maybe they just wanted the attention of the guests. Either way, it was adorable.

Toco Toucan.

I love Toucans. They are some of my favourite birds – they always seem like they have such big personalities. There were two of them in this enclosure, and they kept hopping back and forth from one side to the other.

It actually took me a little while to get a good photo of one while they were standing still for a moment.

Hyacinth Macaws.

These two Hyacinth Macaws were perched way above us, though one of them seemed fascinated with my vlogging camera and kept looking down at me. I managed to snap this photo during one of those moments.

I think they wanted to make sure that I was filming their good side!

Burrowing Owl.

Last but not least is this adorable Burrowing Owl. People have often joked that I resemble a burrowing owl, and honestly I can see it. I just love their cute, scowly faces.

This little guy was watching everyone who I walked past very carefully, you weren’t getting anything past him!

And those are my snapshots from my National Aviary trip on 22nd April. As we head towards warmer weather, I’m looking forward being able to share more posts like this.

I will see you on Wednesday for the next entry in my Aesthetic Photography Weekly series.

Until them, stay kind and be good to each other!
