Hello my Lovelies.
How are you doing today? Are you happy that it’s Friday? Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend?
My weekend is going to be pretty busy. but in a fun way – I am going to a winter craft show tomorrow, then on Sunday, I am spending a day out with my partner. I am hoping to get some new tattoos, and maybe visit the local art museum.
Today’s post is really exciting for me, as I finally got my first roll of film back from being developed, and I’m honestly really happy with how the pictures turned out! They aren’t all good, but for my first time experimenting with film photography, I am pretty pleased.
As far as sharing these photos, I decided to split them up by subject, so my first set of photos is going to be those that I took at Pittsburgh Zoo!
As far as technical stuff, these were all taken using a Canon AE-1 Program on Kodak 603 4078 Ultramax 400 Color Negative 35mm Film (ISO 400).
I got the photos developed at Cardinal Camera in King of Prussia, as both digital and physical prints. The digital prints took about a week and were emailed to me.
As with my snapshot posts, I will be sharing these in the order you would see the animals as you walk through the Zoo!
Let’s jump right in shall we?

Flamingoes! This photo was taken using the 25-85mm lens before I switched to the 75-205mm lens.
Most of the Flamingoes were moving around, so I am glad that I was able to spot this pair who seemed to be enjoying a nap in the sun. Also, a bonus duck!

The Lionesses were also enjoying a nap on this rock in their enclosure – I’m sure it was really warm and felt really good. Their faces just look so content – they remind me of my cats at home!

The Nyala are grazing in the Savannah enclosure, I was hoping to get a photo of the Ostrich, but they would not keep still.
I love the way the greenery in the foreground looks in this photo.

I love it when all of the Elephants are together as a group. This photo, as well as the following photo were taken from the outlook closest to the Elephant’s indoor enclosure.

I snagged this photo just as this cutie was starting to get playful, I’m glad that the movement didn’t blur the image at all. African Elephants just look so adorable when they have their ears out to the side.

I think this photo of the Masai Giraffe is my favourite from this set, mostly because it shows off what I love about film photography; the way the colours are off and the image isn’t completely crisp. There’s just something nostalgic about it for me, and it makes me happy that I am able to do it as a hobby.

This Philippine Crocodile was starting to make their way towards the water for a cooling dip. I love how their beautiful colouring is hidden until they are swimming or submerged.

I’m including this one because I just love the contrast between my reflection in the glass and the Crocodile’s smiling faces.
I love when you can catch them in little groups like this, enjoying the sun and the water together.

I love this fountain beside the Siamang enclosure – I could sit and listen to the water for hours. I also love the way the camera captured the water cascading down the rocks.

This adorable Clouded Leopard is enjoying a lie down in the shade. You could only really see them from one side of the enclosure.

This photo of the penguins came out a little fuzzy, but the little guy sleeping just brings a smile to my face, hopefully it does for you too.
I think we all know someone who sleeps just like this.

The last photo I have to share with you is this wall art on display as you walk from the Aquarium towards Kid’s Kingdom. I believe this is a drawing of a California Sea Lion.
And that is all of the photos that I have to share with you today! What did you think of my very first attempt at film photography? As I said earlier, I do have more photos from this roll of film to share, but these were taken on my first real day out with the camera.
I hope that you enjoyed this week’s post. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
