W. Elorda’s Snapshots: Cleveland MetroParks Zoo

Good Morning Lovelies.

How are you today? How was your weekend? Do you have anything fun to look forward to this week?

My weekend was pretty relaxing, but I still feel like I got a lot done.

Today’s post is my favourite snapshots from my recent trip to the Cleveland MetroParks Zoo. I love visiting this zoo, there are a lot of animals, and I feel like I always get a really good workout there.

As a quick note before I get started, most of these photos were taken using my FujiFilm X-T30ii, but a couple were taken with my phone. I will let you know under each photo which one it was. Also, I’ll be posting these in the order they were taken!

With all of that being said, let’s get right to the photos, shall we?

W. Elorda’s Snapshots: Cleveland MetroParks Zoo

FujiFilm X-T30ii

The Zoo is currently hosting an Asian Lantern Festival, so almost the entire place is full of these amazing decorations!

I just thought this shot through some tree and foliage looked really neat!

FujiFilm X-T30ii

This beautiful orange dahlia was just outside of the Rhino enclosure.

I love taking photos of flowers, especially when the colour pops against the greenery the way this one does.

FujiFilm X-T30ii

I absolutely adore the colours and details on this flying fish.

This is another decoration as part of the Lantern Festival. Along side some of the displays were little boards explaining the creatures and their significance.

FujiFilm X-T30ii

This archway of flowers is so pretty.

As a I walked through it, I felt like a fairy walking through it, like I’d shrunk down and was walking through a wild garden.

FujiFilm X-T30ii

There is a large bridge that passes over part of the Zoo, this is one of the undersides. There is a little river/stream that runs through there, and there is a lot of greenery.

I find sights like this particularly beautiful, a balanced mix between nature and architecture.

This gorgeous dragon is setup under the same bridge from the last photo.

I love the forest backdrop that was setup, as well as the pretty crystals that surround the dragon. This one was inspired by dragons in western mythology.

It was a warm afternoon, so of course it was nap-time for the tigers.

It always makes me happy when I see big cats act like my cats at home. It’s just so adorable. Also, sleeping cats (of any size) are some of the cutest things.

These Bison, not Buffalo, are so fluffy and cute.

It was a hot day, so they were enjoying a lie down on the ground. I often finding myself wondering what their fur feels like, though I would never get in their personal space.

FujiFilm X-T30ii

This is the first bear I’ve seen at a Zoo in a while. This handsome fellow is a Grizzly Bear.

He was also enjoying a cool dip in his pool – very cute bear behaviour.

FujiFilm X-T30ii

This is one of my favourite sections of the Zoo.

Behind this sign is a little play area, as well as a habitat for two of the bears that live at the Zoo. Something I think is cool about this enclosure is that there are different sections so the zookeepers can work on repetitive behaviours.

FujiFilm X-T30ii

A very pretty little waterfall, just along the path.

I’m a sucker for pretty surroundings, I really like the sparse flowers here, and the sound of the water trickling over the rock was really soothing.

FujiFilm X-T30ii

I took this photo from the little overlook where you can feed the giraffes.

This giraffe was more interested in this branch in the fence, than the lettuce being offered by the zoo patrons. I thought this was kind of funny. She did eventually go over though, which was very cute.

FujiFilm X-T30ii

Another very cool water feature. This one is behind the Giraffe enclosure.

I like the way the greenery surrounds the waterfall, there is a variety of leaves, and it just looks very lush.

Fujifilm X-T30ii

There is some lovely buildings at the Cleveland MetroParks Zoo, this is one of my favourites.

There is something so beautiful about those little intricate details. I think my favourite detail is the little lamppost.

FujiFilm X-T30ii

A beautiful Scarlet Macaw.

I could stand and watch birds for hours. This macaw is very pretty, and I am very grateful that they stood still for me to get a photo.

More fun architecture and design at the Zoo.

This is in the Australian section of the Zoo, close to the Petting Zoo. I’m not sure which show plays here, but I hope to see it someday.

FujiFilm X-T30ii

The last of my Lantern Festival photos.

These drums created a lovely tunnel that you could walk through to get to the Elephants. I love the flower designs, and the gorgeous mix of colours.

There is a little spot in the Zoo, where you can feed the elephants.

This adorable fellow was standing next to the feeder (which costs 25 cents) and was waiting for people to come by I think. They were watching as I took their photo. Very cute!

And that is all for this Snapshot post! I really hope that you enjoyed it! Which photo is your favourite? I think mine is the photo under the bridge, and the photo of the elephant.
